Description: This is the basic infantry unit for the GDI forces. They are effective against other infantry, but lack the firepower to efficiently damage armored vehicles. In large groups, they destroy buildings fairly quickly, and in the early stages of the game, serve as good scouts and base defenders.



Grenadier

Description: These infantry units serve as better opposition against armored vehicles, especially when concentrated in large groups. Grenadiers also deal with enemy infantry threats as well. Their grenades have good range, and thus can be used for sneak and surprise attacks.



Rocket_Soldier

Description: The Rocket Soldier serves as the perfect mobile defense against aerial attacks. In groups, they can quickly destroy slow moving armored enemy vehicles. Their effectiveness against other infantry units is much less.



Engineer

Speed: Medium
Description: Engineers serve as the perfect strategic attack against enemy structures. Without any weapons, they are unable to destroy enemy buildings, but they can very quickly convert an enemy building into one of your own. Their abilities are great, as they can also instantly repair structures in your own base, but their weakness is their lack of armor and a defensive weapon.



Commando

Speed: Medium-Fast
Description: The Commando is the special operative unit of the GDI army. He instantly destroys any structure with his specialized C4 Explosives, and, almost just as fast, deals with enemy infantry with his high ranged Sniper Rifle. The Commando is only prone to enemy armored vehicle attacks.




Harvester

Description: This vehicle has only one purpose: To collect Tiberium and return it to the Refinery for conversion into credits. Without the construction of these vehicles, the economy of your base will greatly suffer, which will eventually lead to defeat.



Humm_Vee

Description: This is the ultimate scout unit in the selection of GDI vehicles. It is very quick, and easily destroys enemy infantry built early in the game. It is very vulnerable to enemy artillery and tanks.



Armored_Personnel_Carrier

Production Time: 47 sec.
Speed: Medium
Description: This vehicle is supreme for infiltration of enemy bases, especially when carrying Engineers. It can carry up to five infantry units, and also has a minor mounted defensive weapon. The APC should always be escorted by better-armed vehicles, as a loss of five Engineers or Rocket Soldiers isn't worth it.



Mobile_Rocket_Launching_System

Description: This is the long-range mobile rocket system used by the GDI. It is effective against almost any unit, including aerial threats. The MRLS cannot cope with close ranged enemy attacks, so it must be guarded by other close-range battle vehicles such as the Medium Tank. This vehicle is perfect to keep in the back of tank formations for long-range support.



Medium_Tank

Description: This is the backbone of any armored attack force. It efficiently destroys other armored vehicles, and tears through the walls of any structure. The only weakness present in this vehicle is its inability to quickly destroy enemy infantry, but this problem can be quickly dealt with by running over the unit.



Mammoth_Tank

Speed: Slow
Description: This is the ultimate heavy-duty vehicle of the GDI land force. It can quickly destroy enemy vehicles, and also has the capability to obliterate enemy aircraft. Its only weakness is its lack of speed, but when it reaches the battlefield, there is no stopping the Mammoth Tank.



Mobile_Construction_Vehicle

Description: This is the vehicle transportion form of the origin of your base, the Construction Yard. Once deployed, it provides the player with an assortment of production choices. It is crucial that this unit is not destroyed at any point during game.




Transport_"Chinook"_Helicopter

Description: This vehicle is used for the aerial transport of your troops. It is perfect for covert attacks behind enemy lines, and basically serves the purpose of the APC, but is able to fly.



Orca_VTOL_Assault_Craft

Weapon: Dragon TOW Missiles
Sight/Weapon Ranges: 2/4
Production Time: 80 sec.
Speed: Very Fast
Description: This is the stable of the GDI air force. Its missiles are very affective against enemy armored vehicles and structures, but lack the power to efficiently deal with enemy infantry threats. An Orca Assault Craft is provided with every Helipad that is built, and additional units can be produced from the Weapons Factory.




Hover_Craft

This heavily armored unit deploys infantry and vehicles during amphibious attacks on enemy territory. It is only seen in single player missions, and serves to provide you with your starting units during the beginning of certain missions.



Gun_Boat

BACK_TO_TOP
This naval unit will patrol the waters and target enemy installations and troops. It is also only present in certain single player missions, and serves the purpose of support for the player against certain enemies.




Support_Aircraft

BACK_TO_TOP
This unit is called-up in certain missions to destroy specific buildings and units. It bombs ground targets with Napalm and other effective means of destruction. The precise obliteration of enemy targets is a welcomed advantage for the GDI.
